BEST SELLING MEMOIR

Lara Sabanosh has been called many things, but her newest title—Author—has given her the courage to move forward in her life after living through mental and physical abuse, the traumatic loss of her husband, and being foisted into the global news. She’s finding her strength by utilizing the spotlight she never asked for and shifting the topic from scandals & rumors to a platform for change. She’s bringing ugly truths to light that reveal what life is like when caged in an abusive relationship, and an insider’s POV to a broken domestic abuse system.

LARA M. SABANOSH

Lara Sabanosh, the author of Caged, has dedicated her life to helping others. Beginning in her youth as a volunteer and continuing through her career, she has made it a priority to aid individuals in finding and meeting their emotional, educational, or professional goals.  From counseling children and families to facilitating civilian and military members in social and educational leadership—as Director for Fleet and Family Services at GTMO—she has been blessed with assisting others in the journey of becoming their best selves. Lara has completed coursework for two doctorates with a focus on research, evaluation, and clinical psychology and a master's in general psychology from Walden University. Through her career, she has found solace and joy in her civil service—the main driver in sharing her experience of Caged.

Lara has since retired from civil service and private sector roles and her new goal is to continue to help others through the written word. She hopes that by sharing her story, she will give voice to the topics of domestic abuse and the broken system that desperately needs repair.

Regardless of her struggles, one thing has been constant throughout Lara’s journey:  the pride, respect, and unconditional love that she has for her two exceptionally intelligent daughters who have overcome the same trauma and challenges described within the pages of Caged. They have used the experiences to help forge who they are—strong and independent women—and move forward in life. These remarkable young ladies are in the process of completing their educational journeys and advancing into their careers, as they too, look to help others in their diametrically different fields of study.

Lara now spends her time in Pensacola, Florida with her loving family, dogs, and grand puppies. She’s learning to move forward with hope that one day, she will no longer be caged by her past, and will be free to fly forward unburdened.
